CNRS – CRM – FMJH – FSMP Agreement

A collaboration agreement has been signed between the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences and their Interactions (Insmi), the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), the Jacques Hadamard Mathematical Foundation (FMJH), and the Paris Mathematical Sciences Foundation (FSMP), with the goal of strengthening mathematical research cooperation between France and Québec. This article summarizes the instruments that make such cooperation possible. This website will publicize them regularly, and a newsletter provides updates on the site and on upcoming deadlines for the calls for proposals described here.

Cirm-CRM Agreement: Mirror conferences

Deadline: June 15, 2026. The Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (Cirm, Marseille, France) and the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques (CRM, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) have joined forces to offer the opportunity to organize Franco-Québécois mirror conferences. A mirror conference is an event that takes place at two sites: some of the participants are in residence at Cirm; others are at the CRM. Some talks held at one center are broadcast live to the other. The event is expected to last about three days and involve around ten researchers on each side. The host institute for each group will cover the accommodation costs of its guests, according to its own procedures.

FRQ support: visit in CRM of mathematicians from France

Deadline: 10 January 2026. Mathematicians working in France and students enrolled in a university in France are eligible for FRQ funding to visit the CRM in connection with its scientific activities. The application must include a letter of intent with a description of the activity, a budget proposal, a letter of nomination from an CRM member (or the e-mail address of an CRM member who could serve as a reference), a CV including a list of publications must be submitted so that the visit starts at least 2 months and no more than 9 months after the application deadline.

FRQ support: extended Research Visits in France for CRM Members

Students supervised by a member of the CRM (or one of its laboratories) who are enrolled in a 2nd or 3rd cycle program at a Quebec university are eligible for FRQ research internship grants in France. The application must include a description of the work to be carried out during the internship, a curriculum vitae and a recent transcript of the candidate’s grades, a letter of recommendation signed by the thesis or dissertation supervisor, a letter signed by the internship supervisor specifying the start and end dates of the internship internship must be submitted so that the internship begins at least 2 months and no more than 9 months after the application deadline.

Simons Program: Long-Term Stays in Québec

Deadline: January 10, 2026 This program, funded thanks to the generous support of the Simons Foundation, targets two categories of exceptional researchers in mathematics and related fields: junior researchers (who obtained their PhD less than 10 years ago) and senior researchers. It offers the opportunity to carry out research stays of 1 to 6 months at one of the CRM’s partner universities: Concordia University (Montréal); University of Ottawa; Université de Montréal; Université du Québec à Montréal; Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières; Université Laval (Québec); McGill University (Montréal). Applications may be submitted by the proposed researcher themself, or on their behalf by a CRM researcher, a CRM laboratory, or the organizer of an activity at the CRM.
