Support for Participation in an Industrial Problem-Solving Workshop in Montreal

Deadline: February 28, 2025 The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO), and the Group for Research in Decision Analysis (GERAD) are organizing a problem-solving workshop in Montreal from June 2 to 6, 2025. These workshops are the Canadian equivalent of the Semaines d’étude mathématiques - entreprises in France: participants (from industry or academia) form teams, each of which analyzes a problem provided by a company or institution. The workshop provides an opportunity for academic scientists to tackle real-world problems and for companies to access the expertise of researchers in statistics and mathematics.

In the French university system, the Master’s degree is a two-year program corresponding to the fourth and fifth years of higher education. Students supervised by a member of the CRM (or one of its laboratories) who are enrolled in a 2nd or 3rd cycle program at a Quebec university are eligible for FRQ research internship grants in France. The application must include a description of the work to be carried out during the internship, a curriculum vitae and a recent transcript of the candidate’s grades, a letter of recommendation signed by the thesis or dissertation supervisor, a letter signed by the internship supervisor specifying the start and end dates of the internship internship must be submitted so that the internship begins at least 2 months and no more than 9 months after the application deadline.
