Postes rouges : Hosting mathematicians from Canada in French laboratories
The Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) offers mathematicians working in an institution outside France the opportunity to spend three months in a laboratory in France between February 1, 2025 and November 30, 2025.
This stay is accompanied by financial support: travel, visa, accommodation and catering expenses for the duration of the stay.
PIMS Europe: long-term research stays in France for PIMS members
Mathematicians holding a position at a PIMS member university are eligible for grants for a medium- to long-term stay (at least 2 months) in a French laboratory starting in 2025.
The application including
- an overview of the planned research activity, including planned locations and collaborators in France (up to 5 pages),
- a letter of support from the proposed host institution in France,
- a letter from the candidate’s head of department supporting the proposed visit and indicating the duration of the candidate’s stay in France,
- [for visits that include part of the academic year] a commitment from the department to provide teaching release for the duration of the proposed visit must be sent to the PIMS director.

The international research laboratory CRM - CNRS
Since 2011, the CNRS has been linked to the Centre de recherches mathématiques via an international research laboratory (IRL CRM-CNRS) renewed in 2025 for the third time.
The CRM is a multi-site laboratory, divided between six institutional partners:

The international research laboratory PIMS - CNRS
Since 2007, CNRS has been linked to the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences via an international research laboratory (IRL CNRS-PIMS), renewed in 2024 for the third time.
PIMS is a multi-site laboratory, divided between the ten universities that make it up:

- University of British Columbia
- Simon Fraser University
- University of Victoria
- University of Washington in the United States
- University of Regina
- University of Saskatchewan

Exchange from France to PIMS
Long-term (minimum six months): CNRS assignments and delegations
CNRS researchers from CNRS laboratories in France can be assigned to PIMS. After obtaining a CNRS delegation, tenured teacher-researchers can also be assigned to PIMS.
