Visiting the CRM-CNRS
Stay Between Six Months and One Year
Researchers and faculty members affiliated with a Joint Research Unit (UMR) under the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences and their Interactions (Insmi) have the opportunity to undertake a medium- or long-term stay abroad, within an International Research Laboratory (IRL), notably at the CRM-CNRS in Montreal.
To ensure optimal planning of the stay, it is essential to get in touch at an early stage — ideally even before submitting your application — with the Deputy Scientific Director of Insmi responsible for international affairs, for an informal discussion about the proposed project.
At the same time, you should initiate discussions with:
- the director of the relevant International Research Laboratory;
- and the director of your home UMR, and obtain their prior approval.
To be assigned to an International Laboratory, you must hold a permanent position. Furthermore, faculty members must obtain a secondment (délégation) to CNRS — not, for example, a research or thematic conversion leave (CRCT). It is therefore crucial to submit a secondment request.
For further information, you may contact the Director of the CRM-CNRS.
Short Stay
The CRM-CNRS International Laboratory may contribute to funding short stays for researchers and faculty members based in France. Please contact the Director of the CRM-CNRS early in the planning of your project.
