Researchers and faculty members affiliated with UMRs/FRs/FRAs of the Insmi may apply to carry out a medium- or long-term research stay abroad (6 to 12 months) in 2026 or 2026–2027 at one of the International Research Laboratories (IRLs) listed on the Insmi website.

These IRLs are joint units governed by the same legal framework as the joint research units (UMRs) in France. They are co-managed by the CNRS and one or more foreign institutions in the country where they are based. CNRS researchers may be assigned to them temporarily (with a return to their original laboratory at the end of the assignment). Faculty members must apply for a CNRS delegation. In both cases, financial support is available from the CNRS. The Guide de l’expatrié (DR16) provides further information about expatriation procedures, which are managed by the HR and finance departments of CNRS DR16 Paris-Normandie.
