CNRS – CRM – FMJH – FSMP Agreement

A collaboration agreement has been signed between the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences and their Interactions (Insmi), the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), the Jacques Hadamard Mathematical Foundation (FMJH), and the Paris Mathematical Sciences Foundation (FSMP), with the goal of strengthening mathematical research cooperation between France and Québec.

This article summarizes the instruments that make such cooperation possible. This website will publicize them regularly, and a newsletter provides updates on the site and on upcoming deadlines for the calls for proposals described here.

Exchanges of doctoral students

• Doctoral students from a FMJH member laboratory may be hosted by a CRM partner university through the CRM program “FRQ Support for the CRM–CNRS Laboratory: visits by researchers and students from France to the CRM” for a stay of between two weeks and three months;
• Doctoral students from a FSMP member laboratory may be hosted by a CRM partner university through the FSMP program “Doctoral Student Visits” for a stay of between one and three months;
• Doctoral students from a CRM partner university may be hosted:
  • in a FMJH member laboratory through the FMJH program “Junior Scientific Visibility: Incoming Mobility” for a stay of one to two months,
  • in a FSMP member laboratory through the CRM program “FRQ Support for the CRM–CNRS Laboratory: research internships in France for CRM students” for a stay of one to six months.

Exchanges of researchers

Researchers from CRM partner universities

They may be hosted:

• in a CNRS laboratory through
  • the Insmi program “Hosting of foreign researchers on postes rouges” for a duration of three months (announced each summer on this site, with applications due at the end of summer),
  • the CRM program “FRQ Support for the CRM–CNRS Laboratory: long-term research stays in France for CRM members” for a duration of up to six months;
• in a FMJH member laboratory through the FMJH program “Invited Researchers” for a stay of one to six months;
• in a FSMP member laboratory through the FSMP program “Distinguished Professor Fellowship” for a stay of two to three months.

Researchers from a CNRS laboratory

Researchers from a CNRS laboratory, including faculty members and members of research federations, may be hosted at one of the CRM partner universities through:

• the CNRS assignment program in an IRL, subject to its conditions (including obtaining CNRS delegation for faculty), for stays of at least six months (announced each summer on this site, with applications due at the end of summer);
• the CRM program “FRQ Support for the CRM–CNRS Laboratory: visits by researchers and students from France to the CRM” for stays of two weeks to three months.

Researchers from FMJH or FSMP member laboratories

They may be hosted at a CRM partner university through the CRM program “FRQ Support for the CRM–CNRS Laboratory: visits by researchers and students from France to the CRM” for stays of two weeks to three months.
