International Theses in IRLs
The National Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Their Interactions will fund a small number of CNRS theses.
Description
This is funding for a doctoral student, registered in France, with a thesis supervisor employed in a UMR or a laboratory linked to a FR federation. There must be an existing link with an IRL through co-supervision or simply the identification of a partner in the IRL on the thesis topic, who could host the doctoral student for a period of at least three months during the course of the thesis (this through stays each year).
Funding
- The CNRS funds the doctoral contract.
- The National Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Their Interactions funds the mandatory mobility through an annual payment to the laboratory of the thesis supervisor. The amount is approximately €4k per year of the thesis. The first payment will take place in January 2027, then automatically each year at the same time for three years.
Application File
- A brief CV of the thesis supervisor in France and a clear indication of their links with the IRL;
- The thesis topic filled out in the document TheseInternationale2026_Nomcandidat.odt;
- The name of the person in the IRL who would be a partner, their CV, and their potential role (co-supervisor or partner);
- If the prospective doctoral student is already known, a brief CV.
Submission of the File
For files related to a member of CRM-CNRS, IRL3457, the file must be submitted, no later than March 20, 2026, to the direction of the IRL (emmanuel.royer@cnrs.fr) who will forward all received files to the National Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Their Interactions.
