Organization of a session at the "Mathematics for AI" conference of the MathAM federation
As part of its international strategy, the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) has created a Federation of international research laboratories (IRL) in mathematics across the Americas (MathAm), bringing together laboratories in Chile, Uruguay, Canada (Quebec and Western Canada), Brazil and Mexico.
The Federation is organizing its first MathAm conference, dedicated to mathematics for artificial intelligence (Math4AI), which will take place at the Mathematical Modeling Center (CMM) in Santiago, Chile, from April 12 to 16, 2027.
This conference aims to bring together world-renowned experts in the mathematical foundations of AI, as well as researchers from across the region and from various mathematical disciplines. It will address key questions and recent developments in mathematics for AI, fostering the creation of new scientific networks and strengthening mathematical capacities throughout the Americas to tackle the challenges posed by AI technologies and their impact on science, industry, and society.
The Organizing Committee invites members of the IRL (including members of the CRM) to submit proposals for thematic sessions.
Session Proposals
Each proposal must include:
- A session title;
- The name and contact information of an organizer from the corresponding IRL. Organizers do not need to be speakers; Proposals should be sent by email to Maia FRASER.
Participants
- A session may include three to four presentations of about 30 minutes each;
- The proposal must include at least two names of potential speakers who are likely to accept an invitation;
- Proposed speakers should, in principle, have their own funding;
- It is not mandatory for all proposed participants to be members of the IRL.
Evaluation
Proposals will be reviewed by the organizing committee, which will:
- Select the sessions;
- Suggest groupings if necessary, taking into account thematic relevance, diversity, geographical proximity, balance between topics, as well as logistical or budgetary constraints.
Acceptance
- The Organizing Committee will contact the session organizer to communicate its decision or recommendations by mid-November; The organizer will then need to contact the proposed speakers, confirm their participation (and find alternatives if necessary) by the end of December.
Submission deadline: October 30.
