Affectations, délégations: Hosting mathematicians from France in Canadian laboratories
In 2025 or 2025-2026, researchers and teacher-researchers who are members of the laboratories in partnership with the Institut national des sciences mathématiques ed de leurs interactions of CNRS (Insmi) can take part in a medium- or long-term stay abroad in an International Research Laboratory (IRL), in particular at CRM-CNRS or PIMS-CNRS.
For better planning of the stay project, it is imperative to discuss the projects upstream (and certainly before submitting the application) informally with the Insmi deputy scientific director in charge of international affairs.
It is also advisable to contact
- the director of the IRL
- the director of your UMR as soon as you start preparing your project, and seek their agreement.
Applications
Applications and dossiers should be sent to the generic address insmi.international@cnrs.fr, with a copy to the director of the proposed IRL and the director of the original unit.
Application deadline: October 15, 2024
The application must include :
- an up-to-date CV
- a list of publications
- a description of the IRL research project, including projected dates
- a letter from the IRL’s inviting person
- agreement from the IRL director (an e-mail will suffice)
- agreement from the director of the home UMR (an e-mail will suffice).
Once the application has been submitted, the timetable will be as follows:
- until the end of January 2025: examination of applications in consultation with IRL directors
- during 2025: communication of results (depending on the date of announcement of CNRS delegation allocations).
CNRS delegation requests for an IRL hosting project
For an IRL assignment, you need to be a tenured professor, and for teacher-researchers a sabbatical leave provided by CNRS (délégation). It is therefore essential to apply for a CNRS sabbatical leave for the 2025-2026 campaign, according to the timetable set by the university. The host laboratory to be indicated for the application is the IRL, after first contacting the director for agreement.
Applications must be submitted via the Ministry’s Galaxie site.
Application deadline : October 18, 2024. (Please note: the application requires signatures, which cannot be obtained at the last minute).
Notes
As the CNRS operates on a calendar year basis and the sabbatical leave calendar is based on the university calendar, Insmi will consider both 2025 projects (calendar year, researchers only) and 2025-2026 applications (university year, researchers, teachers/researchers). Colleagues working in a UMR belonging to another CNRS institute (CNRS Ingénierie, CNRS Physique, CNRS Biologie, etc.) who wish to apply to an IRL belonging to the Insmi are required to inform their home institute of their application (via the DAS International, for example).
